In the following two charts there are the graphs of S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 and DJIA representing the trends of the indicators that measure the number of stocks of the indices that are above different moving averages (5, 20, 50, 100, 200 days).
For the three series, besides the graphs of the different indicators, there is the graph the specific index in order to have an immediate view of the relation between the indicators and the trend of the index: S&P 500 (US 500), NDX (Nasdaq 100), DJIA (US 30).

Open the S&P 500 chart as provided by Barchart and then press the "Indicators" button and select the indicator "Distance from Average" choosing the preferred moving average (25, 50, 100, 200) in reference of the short, medium, long term perspective. The analysts assess that the most reliable moving average distance is the one from 200 MA, but the one from 50 MA may be useful for a shorter term investment strategy.
